Weekend bonding with the kids usually means either watching cartoons together or me getting dragged into another “pretend play” session where I end up being the monster, the customer, or worse—the patient at their imaginary hospital. 😂 Kaya when I stumbled on this site, CulinarySchools.org, that has a ton of online games, I thought, “Okay, baka ito na ang chance ko to finally play something na hindi ako mapipilitang magsuot ng wig.”

The first game we tried was Coffee Shop. Simple lang ang premise—you run your own coffee stand, adjust prices, manage supplies, and try to make a profit. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. My daughter was bossing me around like a mini-CEO: “Papa, don’t make it too expensive! Customers will leave!” Ako naman, “Eh anak, kailangan kumita tayo, mahal ang kuryente!” In the end, she was right. Our coffee shop actually made money because she had the patience to balance things out. Proud ako, pero medyo natakot din sa future ko—baka ako pa maging employee niya balang araw.

Then we tried Geometry Dash. Ah, ito na. Pure chaos. Imagine me, a grown man, trying to make a tiny square jump over spikes in perfect rhythm. The kids? Tumatawa lang sila habang I kept shouting “NOOO!” every time I failed—na madalas. They now think I’m hopeless at reflex games. Hindi ko sila masisi… kasi totoo.
But the family favorite? Papa’s Bakeria. Here you’re in charge of baking pies, taking orders, and decorating them. This one got everyone involved—my kids were shouting instructions (“Papa, more sprinkles!”), while I tried not to mess up the crust. We actually had a blast pretending we were running our own bakery. Syempre, ako yung taga-linis in the end—kahit online lang. Some things never change.
What I didn’t expect was how much fun I would have. These games weren’t just “pang-bata.” They turned into moments where we were laughing, competing, and making memories. No gadgets fights, no “Papa, I’m bored.” Just us, playing side by side, cheering each other on.
Sometimes bonding isn’t about big trips or expensive toys. Minsan, it’s about something as simple as running a virtual coffee shop or laughing together over a badly decorated pie. And honestly? I’ll take this over another tea party tiara session any day. 😉
