Last week, one of my closest friends tied the knot. As expected, it was a coat and tie event. You know the type — pormalan to the max, with all the titos and titas in full fashion armor. Problem was: I didn’t own a single decent coat and tie. I’m a “t-shirt, jeans, and tsinelas” kind of guy most days.
Now here’s the dilemma — getting a brand new suit tailored would’ve cost me around ₱7,000 to ₱10,000. I don’t know about you, but for something I’ll wear once and probably hang in the closet for the next five years (or more), that felt like a heavy price to pay.
Thankfully, I have a wais na misis. The Peach Kitchen (a.k.a. my wife) saw that there was a suit rental place nearby — Gardini in Monumento. Hindi na kailangan ng online shipping, hindi na rin kailangan lumuwas pa ng malayo. A quick trip and we were good to go.

The Gardini Suit Rental Experience
Here’s what I liked about the whole thing:
- ✅ Complete Set – For ₱1,700, I got a full suit: inner polo, vest, coat, tie — the whole shebang.
- ✅ Reasonable Deposit – They ask for a ₱3,000 deposit, but it’s fully refundable as long as you return the suit in good condition within 2 days.
- ✅ Tailored Fit – Even though it’s a rental, they take your measurements to make sure it fits you just right. The pants were adjusted, and the coat felt snug in a good way — not the kind where you can’t breathe when you sit.
- ✅ Advance Prep – You just have to pay and reserve your suit five days before your event so they can prep and clean it for you.

Was It Worth It?
Absolutely. I looked sharp, I felt comfortable, and best of all, I didn’t have to cough up 10k for a one-night outfit. That’s dad math right there.
Plus, my wife kept telling me I looked gwapo. I’ll take that compliment any day.
If you’re like me — a practical dad who prefers spending on memories over materials — renting a suit for one-time events is the way to go. It’s budget-friendly, hassle-free, and you still get to show up looking your best.
Would I do it again? Definitely. Unless mag-artista ako bigla and need ng tux every weekend (not likely), I’ll keep renting.
