Home School Hacks for Daddy

Over the past two years Periwinkle has been home schooled because of the Pandemic. At the beginning it was hard for her to adjust, and as her parents we were also had a hard time adapting to this new normal. There were a lot of crying and tantrums we had to go trough before she finally got use to home schooling. As her Daddy I found out that there are simple hacks that I can use for her to be comfortable attending online school. A lot of patients is the number hack that I used. I learned that if I show her that I’m frustrated she will also be frustrated and stop listening to her class. I found out that if I show her that I am patient with her she will be motivated to listen and pay attention to her teacher. I also encourage her to participate by rising her hand to answer, and when she gets the right answer, I give her a high five to encourage her and to let her know that I am proud of her. Second hack, I join her with some of the activities. Before the start of the class there are activities like dancing, singing, and praying. I make it a point that join in these activities to show her that I as her parent and an adult I am not shy in dancing and singing in front of an audience. We have lots of fun doing these activities being goofy is something I want her to retain as she grows up. Finally, when all of this don’t work, I bring out my reward card. It is just basically promising her a reward after class, like a candy, slurpy or a happy meal. I don’t want to this all the time because I don’t want her to get use to it. I just do this on days when she is not in the mood, lets face it we all have does days.

Now this hack work for me and this are based on my experience. I am not a professional teacher or the best when it comes to teaching toddlers. But I am a Daddy of two beautiful daughters and I am proud of how we raised both of them.
